Drunken Man Noodles

Sometimes you just have to mix things up. It would be really
boring if we did the same things all the time. Don’t you agree?  For this week’s Friday Night Bites I am doing
just that.  Not saying that my Friday
Night Bites are boring, since I think they are pretty exciting.  Instead of having bite sized delights, this
week I am sharing a recipe for a bowl of delicious bites.

My daytime job keeps me busy and my blog is my nighttime/weekend
job that helps to relax me and share my creative side.  Several months ago I was working with one of
my Account Executives and we went to lunch at this great spot called SEA Noodle
Bar.  I browsed the menu and asked the
server, what is the signature dish and/or most popular and they immediately
said the Drunken Man Noodles.  I in turn
said – I will have that.

Once it arrived the aroma was amazing and the flavors were
out of this world delicious.  Not too
mention the presentation was extremely appealing to the eyes.  I thought to myself, I must figure out how to
recreate this divine dish.  After much
research and trial, I came up with a very close replica of the dish.  My hubby said this was one of the best dishes
I have made and simple devoured the bowl. I decided to make this again and
enjoy for our Friday Night Bites ritual. 
It is perfect with either a cold beer or chilled glass of dry Riesling. 

Drunken Man Noodles

1 Medium Onion, peeled and sliced

8 Garlic Cloves, peeled and minced

4 Thai Chili, sliced and stem removed

10 Cherry Tomatoes cut in half

16 oz. Ground Chicken

2 T Olive Oil

¼ Cup Fish Sauce

¼ Cup Oyster Sauce

½ Cup Low Sodium Soy Sauce

¼ Cup Whiskey

1 T Chili Garlic Sauce

1 T Sugar

4 Green Onions, one inch pieces

½ Cup Thai Basil or Traditional Basil, sliced

½ Pound Rice Noodles

Use the cooking instructions on the rice noodle
package.  I simply soaked mine in hot
water for 10 minutes and then drained.

In a wok, add the olive oil and ground chicken and cook over
medium heat until fully cooked. Add the minced garlic and sliced Thai
chili.  Stir and cook for 3 minutes over
medium heat. 

Add the fish sauce, oyster sauce and soy sauce and
stir.  Next add the sugar and chili
garlic sauce and stir.  The last step is
to add the onions, tomatoes, whiskey, green onions and toss, then add the
cooked noodles and basil and toss again. 
Serve immediately.
